Glen Rose is the county seat of Somervell County, 54 miles southwest of Fort Worth on US 67.

The First National Bank of Glen Rose was chartered number 5795 on May 4, 1901, and converted to The First National Bank in Glen Rose on June 26, 1928. It no longer issued currency.


In twenty-seven years, The First National Bank of Glen Rose printed 1882 Brown Backs and Date Backs and 1902 Plain Backs.

The census reports just two notes: one 1882 Brown Back and one 1902 Plain Back. Neither is in the Philpott-Moody Collection.

The 1882 Brown Back sold at auction at the Memphis Paper Money Show in 2011 for $9,200.
