The First National Bank of Port

Austin Ave. & Procter
The First National Bank of Port
Arthur opened as charter 5485 on July 7, 1900, and printed currency
until the end of the National Bank period. The issue contained
1882 Brown Backs, Date Backs, and Value Backs, followed by 1902
Plain Backs and 1929 Types 1 & 2.
The census lists 114 known notes:
two 1882 Brown Backs, two 1882 Value Backs, and nine 1902 Plain
Backs, plus 26 1929 Type 1's and 75 Type 2's. The Philpott-Moody
Collection owns two 1882 Value Backs and two 1902 Plain Backs.
This Brown Back sold at a Heritage
auction, May, 2010, for $3,680.
