The First National Bank of Sterling City

Sterling City is the county seat of Sterling County, just over 68 miles east of Midland on TX 158.

The First Natiomal Bank of Sterling City was chartered in 1910 with number 9813 and printed currency to the end of the National Bank period.

In 1918, the First National Bank of Sterling City acquired the First State Bank of Sterling City.

The census reports fourteen notes from this bank: nine 1902 Plain Backs and five 1929 Type 1's. One 1902 Plain Back is in the Philpott-Moody Collection.

This 1929 Type 1 sold in a January 2003 Heritage Auction for $4,887.
