Taft is in San Patricio County, about 21 miles north of Corpus Christi on US 181.

The First National Bank of Taft was chartered number 12309, October 7, 1922.

There was a second bank in Taft.

The bank printed currency to the end of the National Bank Period and left ten notes in the census: two 1902 Plain Backs and eight 1929 Type 2's. Three Type 2's are $10 notes. The remainder are $5 notes. One of the Plain Backs is in the Philpott-Moody Collection.

This Type 2 sold at auction in May 2010 for $345.
