The First National Bank was the
second bank in Matador. It was chartered 11002 in 1917 and existed
through 1935. It printed only 1929 notes, Types 1 & 2.
The census reports eight notes: 7 Type 1's and 1 Type 2,

This Type 2 sold January 4, 2001 for $3,450:
"First National Bank of Matador,
TX, Charter #11002. 1929 $5 Type Two, Fr-1800-2, Choice CU. Rather
amateurishly cut along the lower border, a rather surprising
[?!] fact when one notices the serial number, A000001, plate
position G. The one-bank town of Matador is located in Motley
County, a less-than-populous area in the southern panhandle.
While chartered in May, 1917, only small size notes were issued,
and there is a known surviving population of just six [sic]
notes." [Heritage Auctions]
